Design Concept

his is one of a series of small quilts exploring intersecting color and value gradations. The design reminded me of a Venus flytrap plant lurking, ready to catch an insect.

For the background I have used a gradation from deep forest green to gold. For the “flowers” I have used a rainbow gradation, with the warm side of the color wheel pointing in and the cool colors pointing out.
