3 hour, hands on workshop by Caryl Bryer Fallert / all levels
Click here for printable copy in PDF format

Workshop Summary

“Applipiecing” is a simple direct method for joining curved templates, which Caryl developed in 1989 to join the complex curves in her award winning quilts. In this class you will learn to draw and mark your own pattern and piece the most complex interlocking curves quickly and easily. You will make a small sample to learn the techniques.

.Supplies you need to bring

FABRIC

Squares of three-five different fabrics (12" minimum). Fabrics should contrast with each other but look good together. Be sure you have at least one light and one dark or black. Solid colors will work best for the small sample you will make in the class. If you bring prints, be sure they are small, low contrast prints. Fabric must be 100% cotton

  • Thread:
    • Clear and smoke colored Monofilament (nylon is OK, but polyester (Superior Mono-Poly or Sulky "invisible") is recommended)
  • Sewing Machine: One that is friendly and well adjusted. You must know how to operate your sewing machine. Your machine MUST HAVE ZIGZAG. Bring an open-toed embroidery foot if you have one. (Bernina #20)
  • Heavy duty Extension Cord with two outlets. Three prong adaptor if needed for classroom outlets
  • Basic Sewing Kit for machine sewing.
  • Iron (may be shared by several)
  • Table Top Ironing Pad
