Concept
This quilt was made as a high school graduation gift for my niece, Becky Bryer. She said she wanted red and white with a little bit of green and yellow. Most of the fabrics have little hearts printed on them. I wanted to try the traditional lone star pattern, so I put that in the center. I then picked up on the heart theme and designed the heart applique in the corners of the star. The quilting in the white part of the quilt is hearts inside of hearts.
This quilt was made several years before I got my first computer, so I drew a couple of preliminary sketches in colored pencil on graph paper. |
