Design
Concept
I was experimenting with hand dyeing fabrics and then discharging some of the dye, using natural objects to create a pattern on the fabric. The center panel of this quilt was a piece of fabric that resulted from this experiment. It seems like a composition all by itself, and I couldn’t bear to cut it up, so I dyed a second piece of fabric like it and cut that up to make the lattice border. The border is machine quilted in the ditch and the center is hand quilted. |
