Concept This is one of a series of quilts in which three dimensional, constructed tucks are incorporated into a pieced background.  The background was pieced to create the illusion of a diamond of rainbow stripes, floating in a field of black checks, which are themselves floating in a field of pale graduated rainbow hues. Each tuck is pieced from two different fabrics.  The left sides of the tucks are a gradation of pure rainbow hues.  The right sides of the tucks are black and white checks, in the center of the quilt, and a graduation from white to black on the sides.    Because different color gradations are used on the right and left sides of the three dimensional tucks, the appearance of the quilt can be changed significantly by changing your point of view.   I like to call the quilts in this series "viewer participation art." Successive borders of black and white checks and rainbow striped fabric complete the front of the quilt. Publications
