Design Concept
The theme of this quilt is the movement and joy expressed
in dance. The materials used were all left over from other
projects. The background was made from small bits of fabric
trimmed from the seam allowances of another quilt, and the
threads pulled from the frayed edges of torn strips of fabric.
These were arranged on a background of hand painted fabric.
The figures are made from small triangles laid flat, on
the background, then folded at various angles and stitched
heavily with various colors of thread. An inner border of
hand painted fabric was added, and additional machine stitching
was done, covering most of the surface. A solid purple outer
border was added, and the entire piece was quilted.
