Design Concept:

	This quilt is based on the design of Feather Study #30, which I designed, hand dyed, and pieced in 2007. For Feather Study #36a, I started with a digital photo of the unquilted top of Feather Study #30. I changed the shape from rectangular to square, altered the colors and then digitally painted most parts of the image. The digital file was printed on cotton fabric by Spoonflower. I quilted it with many different colors of acrylic and polyester thread. It took as long to quilt this smaller version of my design as it did the larger version.
Feather Study #30: 2007
I designed special fabric for the binding and had it printed at the same time as the quilt top. The back of the quilt is a one-of-a-kind, dye painted fabric. When I made the label for this quilt, I forgot that I had already made a quilt called Feather Study #36 and didn’t discover my mistake until the label was on and the quilt was finished. My solution was to call this one 36a.
