Concept This house portrait quilt was commissioned by the owners of the house, Phil and Debbie Foss, of Lake Forest, Illinois, as a gift for their architect, Richard Deam, of the University of Illinois (Chicago). The house is made of hand painted silk and Herculon upholstery fabric. The landscape fabrics are all hand dyed cottons. The border design is from the patterned redwood ceiling inside the house. A traditional house quilt block and log cabin piecing make up the back of the quilt. |
