In 2016, we visited Gaudí’s Casa Batlló in Barcelona Spain, in which almost every surface is curved. I used the shapes from one of the photographs we took as the outlines for the shapes in this quilt. The colors filling the shapes are gradations of purple and gold. The quilting lines in the gold shapes echo the shapes themselves. In the purple shapes I used a zigzagging pattern that is similar to the pattern of broken plates that Gaudi used on most of his interior and exterior surfaces |
