Design Concept

This is one of a series of quilts, exploring the illusion of overlapping transparent triangles. The triangles were pieced from strips of commercial fabrics that look like strip piecing in gradations. A series of circles made from fabric hand dyed in a gradation of turquoise was appliqued over the pieced background. The quilting was done with variagated cotton top stitching thread. In contrast to the geometry of the pieced quilt top, is done in swirling, free-motion, organic patterns.
