This "green" quilt was made for
a display of quilts about the environment in the Fairfield
Processing booth at the International
Quilt Market, Houston TX in 2007. The purpose of the
display was to introduce Fairfield's new "green"
batting made from renewable bamboo. One of my pet environmental
projects is preserving the wetlands on my farm in western
Kentucky. This original abstract design reminded me of the
marsh grasses in the wetlands.
The fabrics are from my "gradations"
collection for Benartex. The machine quilting was done with
many different colors and shades of thread.
This quilt was the inspiration for a barn
quilt in North Carolina by Jill
Smith. The nearest address to the barn is 885 Proffitt
Road, Boone, NC 28607.
