Concept
This is one of a series of quilts in which constructed tucks are incorporated into a pieced background. On the right sides of the tucks, the colors gradate from black to yellow/green to black to red to black to blue and back to black. On the left sides the colors gradate from fuchsia through the entire rainbow spectrum and back to fuchsia. The colors in the string-pieced background are arranged so that light seems to glow from within the surface of the quilt. The radiating, string-pieced border draws the eye into the dimensional center.
The back of this quilt was pieced with over-dyed striped fabric and the same hand-dyed fabricss used on the front.
