Lepidopteran #3 • 2012 |
This is an updated version of my 2012 quilt, Lepidopteran #3, which was pieced and appliqued, using fabrics from the various collections I designed for Benartex. The design is based on patterns found on the wings of butterflies and moths. For this piece, I used a photograph of the unquilted top of Lepidopteran #6. All of the colors were changed, and I painted the whole design on my Surface computer, using Corel Photo-Paint. My painted design was printed by Spoonflower and heavily machine quilted with many different colors of polyester and acrylic thread. The backing fabric was hand painted with dye. |
