        | Design 
          Concept This is the first of a series of quilts inspired by the  contours of the earth as seen from an airplane.   Five shades of black white and gray were cut into contoured shapes and  fused onto cotton batting.  The  composition was then quilted in lines that echo the contoured design. A narrow  red border surrounds the center square, followed by a second border of large  black and white checks. |
