                | After making my first quilt, See the story of my first quilt at: https://bryerpatch.com/images/quiltrecords/FirstQuilt/RailFence.htm
I bought a second book about quilts which had instructions for making some traditional blocks and gave some basic information about quilt construction, including the fact that most quilters used quarter inch seams, rather than the five-eighth-inch seams used by dress-makers. This was a learning experience, as samplers are meant to be. I used left-over upholstery fabric from our (then under-renovation farmhouse) and mixed it with solid cottons and cotton blends in various shades of green and yellow.   This is far from a masterpiece, but it was useful as a throw on the matching sofa in our TV room for many years.
