Toss Salad was made for a special exhibition about food, presented by the Peninsula Fiber Artists, to be held at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center in the Spring of 2023. I arranged all the ingredients I could think of for toss salad in a grid of squares and rectangles in the dimensions of the Fibonacci sequence. The names of the ingredients are printed in a black border surrounding the colorful center square. The outlines of the rectangles and squared are outlined with black thread and the photos are quilted with invisible polyester monofilament. The black border is quilted in a spiraling decorative pattern with black thread. The back of the quilt is a hand-dyed fabric. The binding matches the lettuce leaves in the center of the quilt.
I didn’t notice my typo in the bottom border until all the quilting was finished. |
