Concept This is one of a series of quilts in which constructed tucks are incorporated into a patterned background. The background fabric is a commercial, tropical print. The tucks are constructed with color gradations from of light to dark turquoise and purple. The tucks are twisted and stitched to create the illusion of movement across the surface of the quilt. The color gradations were hand-dyed with fiber-reactive dyes. The tropical leaf pattern in the background fabric is repeated in the quilting design in the outside border of the quilt. The back of the quilt is a traditional Pineapple block. | |
