Design Concept

This is one of a series of quilts with intertwining curved templates, some of which have a variation on the traditional "flying geese" pattern pieced into the curves. The goose triangles are made from hand-dyed gradations of rainbow colors. The background fabrics are a hand-dyed gradation of grays. The other fabrics were dye painted. The free-motion quilting was done with no marking of the quilt top, using heavy, variegated, cotton top-stitching thread.

This quilt is similar to the quilts in my Flying Free series. The title refers to a scheduling sequence from my former career as a flight attendant, when I often flew from Chicago to the west coast and back in a single day.
