Design
Concept
This is part of a series of quilts in which ½” constructed tucks are incorporated into a pieced background. In this case, the right sides of the tucks are made from a full spectrum of rainbow hues. The left sides are made from a gradation of black, grey, and white. The background was also pieced from the black-grey-white gradation. The zigzag quilting lines twist the tucks from side to side, creating the illusion of movement across the surface of the quilt.
A string-pieced border of black, grey, and white surrounds the center panel, and a rainbow striped fabric was used as a binding on the outside edge.
The back of the quilt was pieced from a print fabric and includes two traditional quilt blocks in the Windmill pattern. |
