 | Design Concept The design for this quilt came during a sleepless night when I
got out of bed, and made a series of ten small drawings to pass
the time. The second of those drawings was refined to create the
design for this quilt. The final design was enlarged and drawn
full size on a four foot square piece of paper to create the templates
for this quilt. The full size cartoon was cut up into individual
templates, which were used as patterns for cutting my fabric
shapes. The spiky curves were paper pieced directly on the paper
  templates.
The swirling design is pieced from fabrics which
  were painted
with dye, or dyed in  gradations of solid
colors from light to dark.   Many different colors
of cotton and polyester top stitching thread were used for the
  quilting. Quilting
Many different colors of cotton and polyester top stitching
thread were used for the quilting.
