          | Design Concept  
              
                 
                  | The inspriation for this machine-embroidered, fabric collage 
                      came from a photograph I took of Noddy terns, nesting in 
                      the trees on Heron Island in Australia. The quilt 
                      was constructed in layers beginning with snippets on a dye-painted 
                      background, and building up to the fused appliqued birds 
                      on the top layer.  |
