Out of the Blue 2 is one of a series of curved composition
studies, in which I am playing with positive and negative
spaces, and the juxtaposition of pattern and color. The fabrics
were painted with fiber reactive dyes. Out of the Blue#2 was
quilted with many different colors of polyester top stitching
thread in various organic pattern, and parallel curving lines.
This quilt was made as a replacement for Out of the Blue
#1, which was damaged in shipment to a buyer. It went to a
private collection immediately upon completion, and has not
been shown or published elsewhere.
