        | Design 
          Concept This is the first in a series  of quilts that are loosely based on the doodled designs that filled the margins  of my school notebooks as a child growing up. Scraps of hand dyed cotton  fabric were layered over a base fabric then stitched over in a doodled design.  By using a free motion sewing technique, the needle of my machine becomes a  tool for drawing with thread. This was the very first quilt  in which I use free-motion stitching. |
