| Each of the 1/2"  "tucks” was constructed from two different fabrics. A different gradation of colors and values is used on each side of the tucks.  The use of color and value gradations, and the twisting of the tucks from side to side, create the illusion of movement and light across the surface of the quilt. A radiating border continues the visual motion of the center panel of the quilt, while drawing the eye toward the center.  It is constructed of alternating strips of fabric, dyed in two different color and value gradations. A traditional quilt block is pieced into the back of this quilt using some of the fabrics left from the front.  My use of a traditional quilt block on the back of this contemporary art quilt is my tribute to the creativity of the many anonymous quilt artists of the past.
