30 Quilts for 30 Years
This exhibit celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of
making my first art quilt in 1983. The thirty quilts, all of which
are new, revisit many of the themes of my past, award-winning
work, and also introduce some new themes. Although there is diversity
in style, the uniform size of the quilts (30" x
30") pulls the exhibit together visually. All of these
quilts were made with my one-of-a-kind hand painted fabric, or fabric from the various collections
I have designed for Benartex, which are based on my
original hand-dyed and painted fabrics.
The exhibit
premiered in the fall of 2013 at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. Subsequently it traveled to other museums, and galleries. By 2015, I had made more than sixty 30" quilts for this exhibit, so different quilts were seen at different venues. Below are pictures of the quilts, all of which were made between 2010 and 2015.
